Camp Gan Israel of Pasadena Manual

“No one puts more care into the care of your child.”

Gan Israel is much more than a physical break from the school routine and winter activities. It’s a comprehensive program designed to strengthen the body and soul. It provides your child with a rich and wholesome summer vacation of fun and excitement along with friendship and meaningful educational experiences.

At the Gan Israel office, we are busy registering children for summer 2010, which will be the most amazing summer yet. Our camp is committed to providing your child with a well-rounded and highly stimulating program in a Jewish atmosphere, under the guidance of a devoted and professional staff.

The phones are ringing and spaces are filling up, so if you do intend to register your child, we would like to encourage you to register as soon as possible so that our office can finish registration early and concentrate on planning activities.

Camp Gan Israel (CGI) offers a wide variety of activities including a variety of sports, art, swimming, baking, outdoor nature hikes, and field trips to a wide array of fun and exciting places.

The beauty of CGI is the one-on-one attention we deliver to your child.  We recognize that each child is unique in their abilities and interests and therefore offer a variety of choices for the child during his/her camp experience with us.  Often the children can choose between an elective activity such as sports or crafts.  This flexibility ensures that each child thrives in the camp environment.  The children leave camp at the end of the day with the greatest of smiles looking forward to the next day’s surprises and fun activities.

It is our goal to provide an unforgettable Jewish camping experience, bringing out the best in each individual camper.

Staff
Child development is the most significant ingredient in a healthy camp experience. This is why our staff is the real secret to our success. Our experienced counselors are known for their personal warmth and ability to care for each child as an individual. Many staff members return year after year, lending experience and continuity to all programs. Each counselor is a role for our children, promising them friendship which will last forever! Their love for the children is surpassed only by the children’s love for them.

Culture
Gan Israel campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride in their Jewish heritage and a love for the land of Israel. Weekly Judaic themes are taught through exciting activities, stories, songs, games and contests, which are part of the unique Gan Israel experience. Combined with group discussions and educational programs, these events bring to life the beauty and values of our tradition.

Lunch and Snacks
New This Summer!!
Hot nutritious lunches will be served each Monday and Wednesday.  In addition an array of sandwiches will be available.
Camp Gan Israel has introduced a NO NUTS policy this summer due to the nut allergies among some staff and registered campers.  Please do not send your child with any form of nuts or nut byproducts to camp.  (i.e., peanut butter, bamba, walnuts, etc.)
Each camper should bring lunch from home on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We ask parents to send a kosher pareve (non meat) or dairy lunch as well as a drink and light snack. We do provide an additional afternoon snack.

Swimming
Monday and Wednesday are swim days. We will be swimming at the Sierra Madre Recreation Center. This facility has two pools-a large pool and a kiddy pool. Please send a swim suit and towel with your child's name labeled.

We strongly encourage parents to apply waterproof sunscreen daily before arriving in camp.

Trips On The Go
Gan Israel’s “Trip Days” , geared to the children’s interests, are scheduled a few times a week and feature excursions to many local attractions. Tuesdays and Thursdays are trip days and require a camp shirt worn. Lunch should be packed in a paper bag with the camper's name on it. Although the trips are prescheduled, they are subject to change from the schedule planned. We will notify you in advance of any schedule change.

Newsletter
The staff works hard in preparing the fun newsletter distributed weekly. Each child feels special when they notice their name in the newsletter. The kids love reading it and so will you. In addtion to hearing about the fun week your child had, the newsletter is also informative and important to read for the coming week's schedule.
